Florida 2014

After my last performance in Midsummer Night's Dream with BOS alumni, my family and I left for our annual Florida trip. We've been here since Monday afternoon and it has been great. We've gone to all the usual restaurants, hung out at the beach and there hasn't even been all that much fighting. Pictures:
and of course, more to come. Especially considering I stayed up all night to watch the most beautiful sunrise of my life this morning.

Thoughts

I get really anxious if i have a lot on my mind and don't type it out or write it out. So, today I've thought a lot about travel.

Miles: Samantha's cousin, Miles, has inspired me to want to travel again. I've always wanted to, but my passion to do so dwindles every once in a while. But he relit it. We went to his house earlier today because he's rarely ever in town. For the past two years he's worked on a farm in Portland and he just recently got back from a two month trip to Israel. I think it's so cool that he's so into spontaneous travel and I want to get into it as well. I want to be able to say "oh I'm going to a friends house for a few nights," and then decide to drive down to New Orleans and stay in a hostel instead. The only negative, in my opinion, is that it's more dangerous for women than it is for men. I feel that it's more normal for guys to travel alone than it is for women, and I hate that. I just really want to travel. everywhere. I want to backpack in Greenland and forage for food. I want to kill animals and cook them myself. I want to go on kayaking trips and camp. I want to be that outdoorsy person, but I don't know how to be. How do you afford to travel so much? How do you find people that are willing to travel with you? I want to start a travel group or something. Get some people together with the same interests that are cool with lowkey, cheap trips. Ugh. I'm frustrated but excited at the same time. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Outfit of the day #3

Re-wore my goodwill vest again! Really liked my outfit today and had a good time in it, so I figured I would post. Today I woke up, worked out--arms day, ate breakfast and lunch and then met Sam at otherlands at around 2:30. We hung there until 3:30, went to goner and then back to her house to hop in one car. After that we headed to her cousin Miles' house--who, by the way, is the most attractive, friendliest young hippie I've ever met, more about him later--and hung with him for a while. After that we went to target and now I'm at home.
here's today's outfit:
vest from goodwill, skirt from target, shoes are black converse, black y'all socks and sunglasses from target as well
today's purchases:
probably going to wear it to work tomorrow or something.

June art project

okay, so maybe I'll triple post? I forgot that I also wanted to share art on this blog and just remembered that I did a couple of art pieces this past month. I'll post my work and the inspiration for the paintings that I did; however, the doodle was original and had no reference so I'll post it alone.

I was bored at work and doodled this hamsa. I'm such a typical young adult white girl that I've found myself recently interested in a lot of Buddhist symbols/yoga shii.

Eating healthy/seeing Sam

Figured I would double post since I haven't posted anything for a while. today Sam got back in town from her backpacking trip in Wyoming! she was gone for a month and so her mom and boyfriend planned a surprise get together today at their house. we swam and she got to hang out with family.
also, I've been trying to eat healthier over the past couple of months. 1,200 calories or so a day--I know it's too few, I've recently decided to up them to 1,450--and I've been working out every morning at around 8:15. so as a result of this, I've found a ton of awesome healthy recipes and decided to give one a shot today! it was baked Parmesan tomatoes. they were great, and I'm not a huge tomato fan. just tasted like a really juicy pizza! only took about 15-20 minutes to make also. if anyone actually reads this and wants the recipe, feel free to comment or whatever and I'll make a new post with it.

outfit of the day #2

my friend said I should start a fashion blog, lol. I doubt anyone but her would read it considering I get over half of my clothes from goodwill and have a bipolar fashion sense. anyway, I've been wanting to wear this outfit for a year but haven't had the courage because I figured I looked like a grandma. today I decided to say fuck it and finally took the dress out of my closet. can't say I'm disappointed! got them both from goodwill.
I got the opal ring from a local shop--Maggie's pharm--the turquoise one from my mom, the brown and silver necklace from a local jewelry maker, the rose quartz from a museum in Nashville and the leather strong from Maggie's pharm as well!

College Decisions and Whatnot

So it looks like I've finally finished my senior year. I've graduated, gone to project graduation, had my last day of school and made my college decision. I'll be at Rhodes in Memphis next year because they gave me the most scholarship money. I'm thinking about double majoring in theatre and computer science which excites me because I know one of the theatre majors from Rhodes is going on to study at the royal academy in London. It gives me hope. It also excited me because I know that there is a study abroad program for theatre majors in India, which is somewhere I've always wanted to go. However, I'm not 100% sure that I'll stay all four years. I'm really hesitant about going to college in Memphis and giving up my former dreams of being an artist. It's such a hard thing, deciding to major in one thing that's practical and one thing you love for the sake of a financially successful future rather than majoring in two things you love. Part of me regrets not going to SCAD to study interior or industrial design. But who knows? Maybe with the money I make from my job as a computer scientist I'll be able to go back to school as an interior designer.
